Team “Don’t Count Blended Fruit” – Weight Watchers

I am Team “Don’t Count Blended Fruit” when it comes to my smoothies. I know, I know, this is controversial. Here is my why… and I think it definitely makes sense. I don’t eat fruits and vegetables.  I can’t eat most fruits and vegetables.  Why?  Well that’s a whole other topic.. you can find that story, here.
Do you love these? I don’t!
I use my Smoothie Recipe to replace a meal, whether I choose to do it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, that depends on the day. I lost over 75 pounds using this recipe 3-5 days a week and counting it as 2-3 Points Plus (depending on how much liquid or yogurt I used, those are the only two things I count in this recipe.) After I lost those 75 pounds, it came up as a topic at one of my meetings and the leader said you HAVE to count fruit when blended because it becomes points. I was angry, I was annoyed. I was a rebel, a rule breaker…
….I continued to not count those fruit points. I feel if you are reasonably using this recipe and not adding other fruits during the day, you can not count some blended fruit. I also feel you need to be reasonable with your portions. This is why I use smaller servings of fruit when I’m not sharing. I’m not using a full cup or cup and half of each fruit. I’ve portioned it out to be actual reasonable servings someone might eat throughout the day. This has been very helpful in my journey because I’m not getting fruits and vegetables regularly. It makes my body feel better. And it worked, I lost weight. So to sum up.. Smoothie Responsibly!
  • Use the smoothie as a meal replacement, not an addition to a meal you are already eating calories.
  • Don’t eat additional fruit the day you smoothie.
  • Fruit Reasonably! Use smaller portions.
  • Only Smoothie a few days a week, have a couple off days.
Enjoy your less points smoothies!
Disclaimer – this could only work I feel for a smoothie you make at home. The smoothie places add sugars and other things that can cause actual extra points. I just avoid the smoothie joints.
